The unique feature of this pineapple variety is that the fruit has an elegant shape, short stalk, small core, protruding eyes, slightly deep eye pits, dark yellow flesh, little fiber, little water, crispy and sweet. In particular, Cau Duc pineapple can be left for 10-15 days without rot. Cau Duc pineapple tree is over 1 meter tall, with an average weight of 1.5-2kg/fruit.
According to local farmers, pineapples appeared on Vi Thanh land around 1930, Hoa Tien people saw a good variety and started to propagate and plant the banks of Cai Lon river. Since then, the pineapple tree has taken root and has stood firm to this day.
The name Cau Duc cluster was formed because at that time, there was a bridge made of cement (built by the French colonialists) across the Cai Lon river in Hoa Tien commune. Traders from all over the world gathered at Duc Bridge to buy pineapples and the name “Khom Cau Duc” or “Cau Doc pineapple” was formed.

Don’t get us wrong. But we assure you that you totally agree with us. “Do not give candy and things to the children when you plan to visit any local villages”, the kids will leave the school and follow the sweets and later they find some things to give you or sell to you. The garden is a little forest, don’t pick and touch the flowers or fruits without the local’s smiles. We deal with traveling green and leaving green behind, not plastic. Top tip: Vemekong.com are some of the companies that care a lot about responsible travel and local respectation.
