2. Travel Guide to Ca Mau City Bird Garden

With a large campus, many airy and cool trees, President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Ca Mau is not only a place to remember Uncle Ho, but also a tourist attraction in Ca Mau attracting tourists from near and far.

President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial area includes many works such as: Uncle Ho’s pavilion (where flowers and incense offerings are held in memory of Uncle Ho); Bird garden (with an area of more than 3 hectares, the number of birds staying is estimated at over 12,000 individuals); Exhibition house, movie screening (serving the need to learn about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh); … It is harmoniously combined with the system of trees and ornamental flowers to bring a cool and airy feeling.

In particular, this area has many individual birds, storks, … in flocks, crowded to create a unique bird garden located in the heart of the city.  Every year, on New Year’s Eve, birds gather here as if they had ever been on a date.  The scene of the bird garden in spring is so lyrical and poetic.  In the afternoon, the song calls to you, the sound of wings fluttering throughout this area.

According to the tally results of the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment (under Hanoi National University) and the Royal Institute of Ornithology in April 2018, this bird park has about 6,603 birds with about 53 other bird species.

However, the number of birds in the garden fluctuates with each season of the year.  At the peak period, the garden has more than 10,000 birds to nest, breed and settle in the artificial bird garden in the heart of Ca Mau city.  Most of these birds are storks (white storks), egrets (also known as snake-necked birds) and gray herons….

If you have the opportunity to travel to Ca Mau, this will be the closest and interesting place to visit for all visitors.  Only less than 6m from a ditch, visitors will witness with their own eyes tens of thousands of birds, storks, mallard (chim le le), Oriental darter (chim điên điển phương Đông), black-crowned night heron (Vạc), watercock (gà nước), great egret, black cranes, cormorant…, etc., swooping down to the mangroves and crowded bamboo banks.

This bird sanctuary has existed for decades and is always carefully and thoughtfully protected by the locality.  Although streets and constructions race around, the bird park still exists as a valuable feature of a city in the southernmost region of the country.

3. What to Do –See – Eat at Ca Mau City Bird Garden

Whether it’s been many times or just the first time stepping into Ca Mau Bird Park, we all feel the pure and simple beauty of nature.  In the calm and clear space with only the sound of birds chirping softly from the canopy of leaves and the very gentle rustling of our own footsteps on the dry crisp leaves, we will see the soul floating in serenity, the sorrows of the hustle and bustle of life seems to disappear.

With biodiversity potential and confirmed environmental value, Ca Mau Bird Park is a place for you to accumulate hundreds of practical knowledge about biology, environment, and ecotourism experiences. For those who love nature and like to experience, Ca Mau Bird Park is an ideal place not to be missed in the journey to discover the land and people of Ca Mau.  This bird park has become an attractive tourist destination, attracting more than 30,000 visitors to Dat Mui every year.
