2. Travel Guide to Ben Tre Museum
With an area of 474m2, the house on the ground floor and a floor was built in French architecture with tiled roofs, brick walls, and many arched windows, carved with patterns of animals and fruits. The house is located on a campus of more than 13,000m2 and has entrance gates in four directions with three sides bordering three major streets of the Ben Tre city: Hung Vuong, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Le Dai Hanh, and the main face facing the Ben Tre River, is considered the most beautiful, convenient, and charming location in Ben Tre. That is why when invading Ben Tre, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the French colonialists built this house. After the Geneva Agreement (July 20, 1954), the US also chose this house as the Governor’s Palace. When the country was unified, the house was taken over by the Provincial Party Committee of Ben Tre and in 1976 handed over to the Department of Culture and Information (now the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to serve as the Museum’s Preservation Room and then Officially Ben Tre Museum, from October 26, 1981.
It is not enough to look at this house as evidence of the invasion of the French colonialists on Ben Tre land. Because this place used to take place in important historical events related to the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans of the Ben Tre army and people. Although it was the headquarters of the enemy’s headquarters, this house used to be a secret inline facility for printing documents in 1938, under the direction of the Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee Pham Thai Buong, where the ceremony took place and signed the decision to establish the Military Corps of the leaders of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee in October 1945.
3. What to Do – See – Eat at Ben Tre Museum
This museum with ancient architecture is currently used to display images and traditional revolutionary artifacts of the people of Ben Tre during the two resistance wars against foreign invaders. All rooms and corridors are used to display more than 3,000 artifacts, images, and documents such as an overview of the history of Ben Tre from the early years of the twentieth century to the end of the anti-war resistance war.
In 2002, Ben Tre Museum built a new facility according to Decision No. 2234/2002 of the Provincial People’s Committee at a location about 20m from the old house (located behind Hung Vuong Guest House). With a scale of 1 ground floor and 2 floors, the house displays economic, cultural – social achievements, and security – defense of the province. Ms. Pham Thi Lan – Deputy Director of Ben Tre Museum said, “This is the pride of Ben Tre because very few provinces currently have a large-scale and methodical gallery like this. This place currently keeps more than 14,000 artifacts, which according to Ms. Lan, there are antiques priced at tens of millions or hundreds of millions of dong, but they are also priceless because of their history. Many collections have been kept by the Museum for more than 30 years, such as the collection of artifacts about the love of the local people towards Uncle Ho and historical figures of the province. Collecting folk artifacts with many materials and origins such as collecting Vietnamese ceramics, Chinese ceramics, and Thai ceramics, ceramic lamps, lime pots, Vietnamese cedarwood, bronze artifacts, agricultural tools, handicrafts; Collection of coins…
On the other hand, book printing is also a new approach used by museums to bring artifacts to families and schools. The publication “Letters in the Rain of Bombs and Bullets” introduces revolutionary soldiers’ love letters to their homeland, comrades, family, and loved ones, which has just been released by Ben Tre Museum. The book has received special attention from readers.
The museum is a place to preserve and display collections of natural and social history to serve the people’s needs for research, education, sightseeing, and cultural enjoyment.

Don’t get us wrong. But we assure you that you totally agree with us. “Do not give candy and things to the children when you plan to visit any local villages”, the kids will leave the school and follow the sweets and later they find some things to give you or sell to you. The garden is a little forest, don’t pick and touch the flowers or fruits without the local’s smiles. We deal with traveling green and leaving green behind, not plastic.
