When people ask me what to see in Mekong today. I tell them view our MekongDelta365.
Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
This 2-day Can Tho tour was one of the best travel decisions I made in Vietnam. From the peaceful wetlands to the lively floating market, it gave me the perfect mix of nature, culture, and warm local encounters — all guided by the wonderful Lam, who made everything feel seamless and personal.
On Day 1, Lam picked me up right on time and we headed straight to a stunning wetland conservation area. Floating through the quiet green canals, I couldn’t believe how untouched and peaceful it was. Lam pointed out native birds and helped us really tune into the natural rhythms of the area. Climbing the observation tower gave us an amazing panoramic view of the entire forest and nearby rice fields — one of my favorite moments. We then did a light trek (very easy) and I enjoyed watching birds up close in their natural habitat.
Our last stop of the day was the giant ficus microcarpa tree — full of wartime stories. Lam explained how it was used by the Viet Cong during the war, and I left feeling like I had connected to a part of Vietnam’s past I never expected to see.
The next morning, Day 2, started early with a sampan ride into the Cai Rang floating market. Lam had such a relaxed energy — it felt like traveling with a friend. We enjoyed noodle soup right on the water, chatted with friendly vendors, and even tasted fresh pineapple cut on the boat. After the market, we visited a family-run rice noodle “factory” (no machines, no crowds) and had a chance to try their unique noodle pizza.
Later, we wandered a tropical fruit garden, biked through quiet village paths, and floated again through small canals with absolutely no other tourists in sight. It was dreamy. The final stop was an organic cacao farm, where Lam explained how cacao is processed and let us sample cacao milk straight from the farm. Delicious!
This tour made me feel immersed, not just entertained. Lam is a passionate, kind, and knowledgeable guide — highly recommended!
This two-day tour in Can Tho was exactly the kind of travel I seek—slow, thoughtful, full of soul and human connection. From the moment Thomas, our guide, greeted me with a warm smile and genuine curiosity about where I’d come from, I knew this was going to be more than just ticking off places.
Day 1 led us into the heart of the wetlands—an expansive, living, breathing ecosystem that most tourists never see. I loved that we weren’t in a rush. We took our time, drifting through shaded canals, listening to the birds and the wind. Thomas shared not just ecological facts but personal reflections about growing up near here, and how climate change is slowly altering these delicate systems. Standing at the top of the observation tower, I felt completely humbled by the view.
Later, we visited the famous ficus microcarpa tree, and I didn’t expect it to affect me as much as it did. The history held in those twisted roots, the shelter it gave during the war, the reverence locals still show it—it reminded me how landscapes and memory are so closely linked here.
Day 2 brought an early start, but it was so worth it. Watching the Mekong awaken is something every traveler should witness once in their life. I had the most amazing vegetarian noodle soup from a boat vendor while the sky turned golden around us. The rice noodle workshop was fascinating—run by a family who’s been doing this for generations. And the noodle pizza? I was skeptical, but it was delicious!
I especially appreciated the quiet sampan ride through the small canals—no crowds, no noise, just real life unfolding before our eyes. The bike ride was peaceful and not too demanding, and it gave us a beautiful glimpse into daily life in the village. The cacao farm was a delight—a little oasis where we learned about how chocolate is made, tasted cacao milk, and even sampled some locally made cosmetics.
If you’re looking for something meaningful—not just “Instagrammable”—this is the experience you’ve been searching for. Every detail was personal, respectful, and truly unforgettable.
