+ Forest & wetland conservation
About an hour drive from Can Tho city, the 2,800-hectare wetland conservation is one of Can Tho hidden gems for anyone who loves to see a real Mekong Delta beside Can Tho floating market.
Exploring and weaving in the untouched wetland of the Mekong delta by boat gives the best experience about the wildlife and nature. Wonderful natural green canals and feeling like nowhere in Vietnam. Then, get to the 25-meter observation tower to enjoy the fascinating view over the wetland forest and the stunning seasonal rice fields. (About one and a half hours in the forest, more or less, depend on your speed and birdwatching time). Take an amazing light trekking about 1,2km (or boat again, transfer back to the station if you do not want the easy trekking with the flat path) in nature for watching native birds.
+ Giant ficus microcarpa tree
Visit a famous old giant ficus microcarpa tree - a great place for VC to camouflage and hide means of warfare and trained guerrillas. Your guide will absolutely explain more interesting things about war sides in the Mekong region.
+ Around 18:00 PM, finish the tour at the hotel in Can Tho City. -
Day 2: Can Tho morning tour: 05:00 AM – 12:00 NOON; A/c Car, Sampan, Bike, Lunch+ At 5:00 AM, our car and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to the boat station for embarking the sampan – an authentic traditional small boat for the tour.
+ Can Tho floating market and the sunrise (sometimes) sampan ride
Arrive at Cai Rang floating market – a must see in Can Tho, Mekong Delta. Your guide will explain and tell you why "early market" "why floating market here" and "why floating market is getting smaller after every 365 days" "why we should see it in real life, real smell before it disappears" and more. The experience includes the best noodle soup on the river tour. Even our guide will take care of your vegetarian breakfast as well. Find a reason to interact with the river life and enjoy the freshest pineapple in your tour.
+ Can Tho rice noodle factory (not rice paper)
Firstly, we do not want you to miss this place. They call it a factory but actually it is run by a family and a lot more authentic than you expect (no shops, no souvenirs). Secondly, the rice noodle is not rice paper. How and Why? Your guide will tell you! You’ll be impressed by the colorful rice noodles, and how fascinating the rice noodles are made by locals. The tour includes a yummy rice noodle pizza made by a member of the family.
+ Can Tho tropical fruit garden
It is an educational and fun trip to learn some things about the native trees and fruits, leaves and flowers at the fruit garden. The tour includes walking around the garden and listening to the tour guide’s stories and tasting the fresh seasonal fruits.
+ Can Tho small canals, quiet, empty and with no tourists
What a romantic trip! Leave the crowds and the market behind and enjoy an intimate peaceful sampan ride in the small canals in the village. Watching the local children playing in the water, the locals preparing things for their daily routines. You may catch the silhouettes of a gentle woman quietly taking guests across the canals by a tiny boat and the more.
+ Optional: Biking in the village (Tell your tour guide if you want to skip the bike tour!)
The countryside bike tour is the perfect break away from Can Tho city! Biking around the village and along the small canals is not only fun and active but also for responsible travel and environmentally friendly of the destination you bike. Can Tho Rice Noodle Factory & Villages
Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
This two-day tour in Can Tho was exactly the kind of travel I seek—slow, thoughtful, full of soul and human connection. From the moment Thomas, our guide, greeted me with a warm smile and genuine curiosity about where I’d come from, I knew this was going to be more than just ticking off places.
Day 1 led us into the heart of the wetlands—an expansive, living, breathing ecosystem that most tourists never see. I loved that we weren’t in a rush. We took our time, drifting through shaded canals, listening to the birds and the wind. Thomas shared not just ecological facts but personal reflections about growing up near here, and how climate change is slowly altering these delicate systems. Standing at the top of the observation tower, I felt completely humbled by the view.
Later, we visited the famous ficus microcarpa tree, and I didn’t expect it to affect me as much as it did. The history held in those twisted roots, the shelter it gave during the war, the reverence locals still show it—it reminded me how landscapes and memory are so closely linked here.
Day 2 brought an early start, but it was so worth it. Watching the Mekong awaken is something every traveler should witness once in their life. I had the most amazing vegetarian noodle soup from a boat vendor while the sky turned golden around us. The rice noodle workshop was fascinating—run by a family who’s been doing this for generations. And the noodle pizza? I was skeptical, but it was delicious!
I especially appreciated the quiet sampan ride through the small canals—no crowds, no noise, just real life unfolding before our eyes. The bike ride was peaceful and not too demanding, and it gave us a beautiful glimpse into daily life in the village. The cacao farm was a delight—a little oasis where we learned about how chocolate is made, tasted cacao milk, and even sampled some locally made cosmetics.
If you’re looking for something meaningful—not just “Instagrammable”—this is the experience you’ve been searching for. Every detail was personal, respectful, and truly unforgettable.
After traveling through Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, I was honestly craving something quieter, something real. I didn’t expect to find something as profound as this 2-day tour in Can Tho. Lam, our guide, was exceptional—not just knowledgeable, but thoughtful and passionate about his region.
On the first afternoon, we drove to the wetland conservation area, which felt like entering a dream. It’s so untouched, so full of life and stillness at the same time. Lam explained how the wetlands are threatened and why this preservation effort matters. We climbed the tall tower and took in a panoramic view that stretched across rice paddies, tree lines, and still waters. I felt a kind of peace I hadn’t felt in years.
But the magic didn’t stop there. On Day 2, we began before sunrise. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy waking up at 4:30 a.m., but as soon as we were gliding across the Mekong on our sampan, I forgot everything else. The Cai Rang floating market was alive and full of energy. We drank coffee from a boat vendor, shared laughs with sellers, and tasted fresh pineapple that still had dew on it. I loved how Lam encouraged us to ask questions and engage. It never felt staged or rushed.
The bike ride through the village was another favorite. We passed small homes, kids waved to us, and we stopped for a quick drink with a local family. The rice noodle workshop was so genuine—I couldn’t believe how fast they moved and how colorful the noodles were.
By the time we got to the cacao farm, I felt like I was being gently returned to reality. We sat under shade trees, sipping cacao milk, surrounded by chickens, trees, and the scent of chocolate.
This wasn’t a tour. It was an invitation into a different rhythm of life, and I’m so grateful I accepted it.
