We took the morning tour with Thomas, and it was a perfect way to discover the charm of Sa Dec. Thomas was full of energy and had a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The flower village was incredibly photogenic — fields of colors everywhere you turned. Thomas told us about the seasonal rhythms of the growers, and we even met a farmer who let us smell different kinds of roses.
Xeo Quyt forest was calm and mystical, especially the sampan ride under the canopy. The stories of the war added another layer of meaning to the peaceful scenery. I especially loved the visit to the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le — I’m going to read L’Amant now!
Chris took us on this short but rich tour of Sa Dec, and it truly felt like discovering a hidden side of the country. We had never heard of Sa Dec before this — now we’ll never forget it.
The flower village was in full bloom, with so many colors and scents. Chris explained the agricultural techniques and how this village supplies flowers across southern Vietnam. At Xeo Quyt, he let us enjoy the silence of the sampan ride, only adding bits of history when the time was right — I appreciated that.
The last part, with the French-style house and the Chinese pagoda, gave the perfect mix of love story and heritage. Molto bello!
