Phu Ly Khmer pagodaThe boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.

The hidden traditional village of making tofu skinThe boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.

When people ask me what to see in Mekong today. I tell them view our MekongDelta365.

Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
I usually plan packed days when I travel — but I’m glad I slowed down for this one. The boat ride itself was calming, then came Phu Ly pagoda — peaceful, fragrant with incense, and full of character.
The tofu skin workshop was so quiet — everyone focused, no rush, no noise. Just soy milk becoming art. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much.
The plant nursery village was… the best part. Small footpaths, green walls, soft river light. I forgot to check my phone. That never happens. Hannah led us like a local friend, not a guide. Beautiful day.
If you’re looking for a touristy, Insta-worthy boat ride — this is not it. But if you want quiet beauty, local stories, and a deeper connection to this region, book this tour.
Phu Ly pagoda was a spiritual place — not because anyone told me, but because I felt it. The tofu skin village was like stepping into a living museum of quiet craftsmanship. Watching the women pull those delicate skins with bamboo sticks felt like meditation.
And the nursery village was a dream. Green tunnels of saplings, gentle river breeze, and Chris guiding us like a friend. This is how I want to remember the Mekong.
