Surrounded by ancient star trees and green palm trees, Phu Ly Khmer pagoda has a very tranquil setting and is one of the oldest ancient Khmer-style pagodas in Vinh Long, Mekong Delta. The boat trip will cruise from Can Tho to Vinh Long for visiting: Phu Ly pogoda, a hidden village of making  the tofu skin which is recognized as national intangible cultural heritage, and a peaceful plant nursery riverside village.

Itinerary
  • Pickup
    At 8:00 AM (or 02:00 PM), our driver and tour guide will welcome and pick up you at the hotel/accommodation as required (free pickup at the Azerai resort, Victoria resort, hotels in the city center…) and transfer to the boat station for embarking the boat.
  • Phu Ly Khmer pagoda
    The boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.
  • The hidden traditional village of making tofu skin
    The boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.
  • The wonderful local peaceful plant nursery riverside village
    Your cruise tour also stops over at the wonderful local peaceful plant nursery riverside village. Vinh Long nursery village is a place where plants are propagated and grown to a desired size. Mostly the plants concerned are for gardening, or selling as veggies and salads, rather than agriculture. And these local private nurseries, which supply the needs of local markets or supermarkets. Some will also work in plant breeding.
  • End the tour!
    Around 12:00 NOON (or 06:00 PM), finish the tour in Can Tho City.

    Una joya oculta en el Mekong

    Desde el momento que subimos al bote, supe que este no era un tour típico. La pagoda Khmer de Phu Ly era un lugar lleno de paz. Árboles antiguos, arquitectura fascinante, y un silencio que invita a la contemplación.

    Luego el taller de piel de tofu fue algo completamente nuevo para mí. Es impresionante ver cómo se forma esa capa fina sobre la leche de soya, y cómo la recogen con tanta delicadeza.

    Finalmente, el vivero de plantas junto al río fue como entrar en otro mundo — tranquilo, verde, puro. Hannah fue una guía excelente, amable y muy atenta.

    Can’t believe more people aren’t talking about this tour — it’s low-key one of the best things I’ve done in Vietnam. Minh was chill, knowledgeable, and shared just enough info without overloading us.

    The Khmer pagoda? Peaceful and visually stunning. The architecture is a blend I’ve never seen before. Then we visited this tofu skin village, which honestly blew my mind — it’s like origami from soy milk. And the nursery village was the perfect finale. Calm canals, plants everywhere, people just doing their thing. No tourist traps, just vibes.
