Phu Ly Khmer pagodaThe boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.

The hidden traditional village of making tofu skinThe boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.

The wonderful local peaceful plant nursery riverside villageYour cruise tour also stops over at the wonderful local peaceful plant nursery riverside village. Vinh Long nursery village is a place where plants are propagated and grown to a desired size. Mostly the plants concerned are for gardening, or selling as veggies and salads, rather than agriculture. And these local private nurseries, which supply the needs of local markets or supermarkets. Some will also work in plant breeding.

When people ask me what to see in Mekong today. I tell them view our MekongDelta365.

Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
After seeing floating markets and canals in other tours, I didn’t expect much. But this one surprised me deeply. It took us into a different layer of the Mekong – more spiritual, more rural, and honestly, more intimate.
The Phu Ly pagoda was stunning. Its serenity got to me, especially with the giant trees all around. The tofu skin part? So cool! Watching it being made by hand from steaming soy milk was like watching silk form out of nowhere.
And the plant village? Peaceful, local, and full of life. I walked away calmer, happier, and more connected to the place. Hannah was the best guide – warm, funny, and full of knowledge.
