Surrounded by ancient star trees and green palm trees, Phu Ly Khmer pagoda has a very tranquil setting and is one of the oldest ancient Khmer-style pagodas in Vinh Long, Mekong Delta. The boat trip will cruise from Can Tho to Vinh Long for visiting: Phu Ly pogoda, a hidden village of making the tofu skin which is recognized as national intangible cultural heritage, and a peaceful plant nursery riverside village.

PickupAt 8:00 AM (or 02:00 PM), our driver and tour guide will welcome and pick up you at the hotel/accommodation as required (free pickup at the Azerai resort, Victoria resort, hotels in the city center…) and transfer to the boat station for embarking the boat.

Phu Ly Khmer pagodaThe boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.

The hidden traditional village of making tofu skinThe boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.

Vinh Long nursery village is a place where plants are propagated and grown to a desired size. Mostly the plants concerned are for gardening, or selling as veggies and salads, rather than agriculture. And these local private nurseries, which supply the needs of local markets or supermarkets. Some will also work in plant breeding.

Can Tho Rice Noodle Factory & Villages
Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
It wasn’t the usual Mekong tour with crowded boats and floating markets. It was better. Way better.
David took us to Phu Ly pagoda first, where I was honestly stunned by the blend of Indian, Thai, and Cambodian architecture. It felt ancient and real — not touristy at all. Then came the tofu skin village: I had NO idea how much craftsmanship went into that thin layer of soy! One lady let me try lifting the sheet and I failed miserably 😂
The last stop, the riverside nursery, was pure calm. We walked along narrow paths full of green shoots, while boats glided silently on the canal next to us. If you want an authentic countryside touch — book this tour.
Honestly, I booked this tour just because I had a free morning — but I’m so glad I did. The Phu Ly pagoda was absolutely gorgeous and full of soul. The old trees, the soft chanting in the distance, even the palm trees swaying… it felt like a sacred painting.
The tofu skin village was something else! As someone who eats tofu almost daily, I was amazed to see how the skins are made by hand. The smell of soy milk in the air, the skillful movement of the ladies — it’s an art.
And the plant nursery? It reminded me of my grandma’s backyard. Peaceful, lush, and full of life. Hannah was sweet and informative throughout. 5 stars for this unique, serene experience.
