The boat trip will cruise from Can Tho to Vinh Long for visiting: Phu Ly pogoda, a hidden village of making the tofu skin which is recognized as national intangible cultural heritage, and a peaceful plant nursery riverside village.

PickupAt 8:00 AM (or 02:00 PM), our driver and tour guide will welcome and pick up you at the hotel/accommodation as required (free pickup at the Azerai resort, Victoria resort, hotels in the city center…) and transfer to the boat station for embarking the boat.

Phu Ly Khmer pagodaThe boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.

The hidden traditional village of making tofu skinThe boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.

Vinh Long nursery village is a place where plants are propagated and grown to a desired size. Mostly the plants concerned are for gardening, or selling as veggies and salads, rather than agriculture. And these local private nurseries, which supply the needs of local markets or supermarkets. Some will also work in plant breeding.

Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this tour, but it was an amazing experience. David, our guide, was simply wonderful — knowledgeable, fun, and super engaging. The Phu Ly Pagoda is impressive, but what I loved was how David connected it to the wider history of the region. It wasn’t just a temple visit; it was a window into the soul of the place. Then we cruised down to the tofu skin village, and I couldn’t believe how much effort goes into making something as simple as tofu skin. It’s a beautiful process. The local nursery village was a quiet, hidden gem, the kind of place where time seems to stand still. I’ll never forget the boat ride back — the Mekong at sunset, a moment that felt truly magical.
This tour exceeded every expectation. Minh was a fantastic guide, welcoming us with a bright smile and making sure we felt comfortable from the start. We began with the Phu Ly Pagoda, which was so much more than just an old building — it had a sense of quiet power. Minh shared the stories behind its creation and the different cultural influences that shaped it. The tofu skin village was a completely new experience for me. Watching the locals create this food, something I’d never seen before, felt like a privilege. Minh’s patience and passion for sharing his country’s hidden gems made every stop feel like we were stepping into a different world.
