Surrounded by ancient star trees and green palm trees, Phu Ly Khmer pagoda has a very tranquil setting and is one of the oldest ancient Khmer-style pagodas in Vinh Long, Mekong Delta. The boat trip will cruise from Can Tho to Vinh Long for visiting: Phu Ly pogoda, a hidden village of making the tofu skin which is recognized as national intangible cultural heritage, and a peaceful plant nursery riverside village.

PickupAt 8:00 AM (or 02:00 PM), our driver and tour guide will welcome and pick up you at the hotel/accommodation as required (free pickup at the Azerai resort, Victoria resort, hotels in the city center…) and transfer to the boat station for embarking the boat.

Phu Ly Khmer pagodaThe boat will cruise on the Mekong River and then keep going deep into the countryside and canals for reaching the Phu Ly pagoda. Walking around the pagoda, you will feel the peace, airy but no less ancient thanks to the appearance of ancient trees and palm trees. Khmer Phu Ly Pagoda (built in 1672) is an ancient temple in Vinh Long with beautiful & peaceful landscape. This building is the interference between Indian, Thai and Cambodian architecture, creating a unique feature that few temples have.

The hidden traditional village of making tofu skinThe boat takes you to the hidden traditional village of making tofu skin. This traditional job (1912) was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in August 2022. You have a chance to see the locals and learn how the tofu skin - food product is made from soybeans. During the boiling of soy milk, in an open shallow pan, a film or skin composed primarily of a soy protein-lipid complex forms on the liquid surface. The films are collected and dried into yellowish sheets known as tofu skin.

Vinh Long nursery village is a place where plants are propagated and grown to a desired size. Mostly the plants concerned are for gardening, or selling as veggies and salads, rather than agriculture. And these local private nurseries, which supply the needs of local markets or supermarkets. Some will also work in plant breeding.

Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
This tour gave me the perfect balance of history, culture, and nature. Lam made the whole experience feel so personal. The Phu Ly Pagoda was like stepping into another era, with its strange but beautiful mix of Indian, Thai, and Cambodian architecture. I was surprised at how much history Lam was able to weave into the visit. The boat ride itself was incredibly calming, and then we arrived at the tofu skin village, where I watched the locals skillfully create something so simple yet profound. I even got to try a bit of the tofu skin! The village with all its plants was the perfect last stop — it’s hard to explain how peaceful it felt to be surrounded by life in every form. Thank you, Lam, for making this tour unforgettable.
The morning boat ride was the kind of peaceful start I never knew I needed. Duy greeted us like old friends, easing any anxiety we had about being in a new place. As we glided down the Mekong, the air was heavy with the scent of water and green. The Phu Ly Pagoda was stunning — ancient and serene, with its tall palm trees swaying like they were part of the landscape’s soul. We wandered quietly through the grounds, soaking in the calm. The tofu skin village was an unexpected highlight. Watching locals make tofu skin with such care — I didn’t even realize how much love went into something so simple. Duy’s stories made it all come alive. By the end of the day, I felt like I had discovered a side of Vietnam most visitors don’t get to see.
