Pick-up11:00 AM, the driver & tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in My Tho City and transfer to My Tho boat station for embarking the boat.

Cruising on the mighty Mekong RiverBoarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).

Coco candy producing processContinuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.

Horse cartTake a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).

Hand rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canalAfterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.

End the tourDisembark at My Tho boat station where the car driver waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to your hotel in My Tho city. End the tour around 2:00 PM.

What a refreshing experience. Minh took great care of us from start to finish. It didn’t feel rushed, and we always had time to ask questions and enjoy the surroundings. The coconut candy part was great, especially since we could see how every part of the coconut gets used. The ride on the sampan through the canal — I can’t overstate how peaceful it was. No noise, no crowds, just nature and water. This short tour gave me a stronger emotional connection to the Mekong than some full-day tours I’ve done elsewhere.
I really appreciated that this tour avoided the more touristy parts of My Tho. Thomas was excellent — very genuine, funny, and full of stories. The visit to the coconut candy workshop was both fun and educational. Riding in the horse cart felt like stepping back in time, and the music stop was charming without being pushy. The hand-rowed sampan through the little canal was absolutely the highlight — shaded, still, and magical. Such a perfect escape from the city for a few hours.
