Vinh Trang pagodaVisit Vinh Trang pagoda in My Tho which was built in 1849. It is the greatest pagoda of Tien Giang Province and was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1984.

Cruising on the mighty Mekong RiverArrive in My Tho, boarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).

Coco candy producing processContinuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.

Horse cartTake a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).

Hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canalAfterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.

End the tourDisembark at My Tho boat station where the car waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to Can Tho city. Arrive Can Tho around 4-5pm.

This tour struck a beautiful balance between comfort and discovery. Lâm, our guide, made us feel like we were being welcomed into his world.
The morning began at the peaceful Vinh Trang pagoda—great for photos and reflection.
Then we hit the river. The motorboat ride was scenic and breezy. Passing by fish farms and the four famous islets made for great storytelling.
Tan Thach was a smart choice—very chill and not touristy. The coconut candy part was interactive, and we got to sample everything. The wine tasting was… an experience!
Riding a horse cart felt like something out of an old storybook, and I loved the traditional live music.
Rowing along the narrow coconut canal was pure Zen. Everyone fell silent to soak it in.
Lunch was a feast! Elephant ear fish, spring rolls, vegetables—all so fresh.
By 5 PM, we were in Can Tho, tired but fulfilled. For anyone curious about the Mekong, this tour is gold.
C’était une journée pleine de charme et de découvertes, parfaitement menée par notre guide Hannah.
Nous avons commencé par la pagode Vinh Trang, paisible et élégante. Ensuite, une promenade en bateau sur le Mékong nous a permis d’observer les maisons flottantes et la vie autour des îles.
Le village de Tân Thạch m’a beaucoup plu – loin de la foule, avec une atmosphère sincère. J’ai appris comment on fabrique les bonbons à la noix de coco, et j’en ai goûté plein !
La promenade en calèche était amusante, et le moment musical sous les arbres, avec fruits tropicaux et thé au miel, m’a touchée.
La balade en sampan dans les petits canaux est restée gravée dans ma mémoire : calme, ombre et le clapotis de l’eau.
Nous avons terminé par un déjeuner excellent, avec le poisson « oreille d’éléphant » – délicieux !
Arrivés à Can Tho en fin d’après-midi, j’avais l’impression d’avoir vécu une petite aventure authentique.
