Vinh Trang pagodaVisit Vinh Trang pagoda in My Tho which was built in 1849. It is the greatest pagoda of Tien Giang Province and was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1984.

Cruising on the mighty Mekong RiverArrive in My Tho, boarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).

Coco candy producing processContinuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.

Horse cartTake a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).

Hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canalAfterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.

End the tourDisembark at My Tho boat station where the car waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to Can Tho city. Arrive Can Tho around 4-5pm.

This tour was a win for the whole family. Our three kids (7, 10, 13) were engaged from the start, and Danh was a perfect guide—funny, warm, and full of kid-friendly facts.
He made Vinh Trang pagoda exciting by pointing out mythical creatures and Buddhist symbols. The boat ride was smooth and exciting with great views.
At Tan Thach village, they loved tasting coconut candy and watching how it’s made. They even asked to bring some home for their classmates!
The horse cart ride made them giggle the whole time, and they tried every tropical fruit offered. Danh even got them to clap along with the folk music!
Sampan was a favorite: “This is like a jungle adventure!” said my youngest.
Lunch was easy for the kids too, with rice, fish, veggies, and fresh watermelon.
By the time we arrived in Can Tho, they were asking if we could go again tomorrow.
Un vrai bonheur que cette excursion d’une journée ! Grâce à notre guide David, franco-vietnamien, j’ai pu tout comprendre dans ma langue tout en profitant d’explications locales très précises.
La pagode Vinh Trang était majestueuse, puis le bateau sur le Mékong nous a donné une belle perspective sur la vie fluviale. J’ai adoré le calme et les couleurs autour des îles.
Le village de Tan Thach était mon moment préféré. On sentait que ce n’était pas surfréquenté par les touristes, et les gens nous accueillaient avec chaleur. Le processus de fabrication des bonbons à la noix de coco était simple mais captivant.
La balade en barque sur le petit canal m’a rappelé des scènes de films, et le déjeuner avec le fameux poisson était excellent.
Arrivés à Can Tho vers 16h30, encore émerveillés. Merci à David pour sa gentillesse et ses anecdotes.
