Itinerary
  • Pick-up
    08:00 AM, our driver and tour guide will welcome and pick you up at the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Vinh Trang pagoda
    Visit Vinh Trang pagoda in My Tho which was built in 1849. It is the greatest pagoda of Tien Giang Province and was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1984.
  • Cruising on the mighty Mekong River
    Arrive in My Tho, boarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).
  • Coco candy producing process
    Continuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.
  • Horse cart
    Take a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).
  • Hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal
    Afterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.
  • Lunch with an elephant ear fish
    Around noon, have an authentic set menu lunch with an elephant ear fish.
  • End the tour
    Disembark at My Tho boat station where the car waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to Can Tho city. Arrive Can Tho around 4-5pm.

    A Day of Beauty and Balance

    This tour had the perfect mix of nature, culture, and relaxation. Thomas was engaging and made sure we always felt included and informed. The Vinh Trang Pagoda was even more stunning than I expected. The boat ride gave us wonderful views of island life, and Tan Thach village was a highlight — quiet, charming, and filled with local warmth. I was especially moved by the Đàn Ca Tài Tử performance — hauntingly beautiful. The slow journey through the canal by sampan was peaceful beyond words. Lunch was fresh and satisfying, and the drive to Can Tho was a relaxing end. 10/10!

    Duy made this trip so memorable with his deep understanding of the Mekong’s culture and history. I loved every stop — from the peaceful Vinh Trang Pagoda to the vibrant river scenes. What touched me most was the interaction with locals in Tan Thach. It wasn’t touristy — it felt real. I loved the candy making, the coconut wine tasting, and the charming horse cart ride. The folk music was beautiful, and the hand-rowed sampan was the definition of peace. Lunch was delicious, and the transfer to Can Tho gave us time to reflect on the incredible day. Highly recommended
