    A Magical Mekong Day

Our day began with a smooth car transfer to My Tho, where David warmly welcomed us. The stop at Vinh Trang pagoda was stunning — such intricate architecture and peaceful grounds. Cruising on the mighty Mekong was breathtaking, with floating houses and islands passing by. David’s explanations about local life and the coconut candy process in Tan Thach village made the experience truly immersive. Riding the horse cart through the village was nostalgic and fun, and the traditional music performance was beautiful and soulful. The slow sampan ride through the coconut-lined canal was a perfect moment of tranquility. Lunch with fresh elephant ear fish was delicious. David’s friendly nature made it feel like a day with an old friend.

A Relaxing Mekong River Journey Full of Culture and Local Flavors

Our day began with a smooth hotel pickup from Can Tho by a friendly driver who made a nice stop at the impressive Vinh Trang Pagoda. The pagoda’s serene gardens and intricate architecture were a perfect cultural warm-up.

Arriving at My Tho, we met our knowledgeable guide Hannah, who welcomed us warmly aboard the motorboat for a scenic cruise along the Mekong River. The views of floating fish farms and the famous four islands were stunning and unique.

Tan Thach village was a peaceful and authentic stop away from the usual crowds. Hannah’s engaging explanation of the coconut candy-making process was both educational and fun, especially for the kids in our group. Sampling the local specialties was delightful.

The horse cart ride through the Mekong countryside offered charming glimpses of rural life, followed by a mesmerizing performance of traditional Vietnamese music — a UNESCO-recognized treasure. Fresh tropical fruits and honey tea were a delicious treat.

The hand-rowing sampan ride through narrow coconut canals was intimate and peaceful, letting us experience life along the riverbanks firsthand. The lunch featuring elephant ear fish was flavorful and satisfying.

Thanks to Hannah’s warmth and expertise, this tour was a wonderful way to explore the Mekong’s culture and natural beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the region!
