What a perfect way to experience the soul of the Mekong! From the moment we met our guide, Thomas, I knew this day would be special. His kindness and humor set the tone for a day that was not only rich in culture but filled with laughter and personal connections.
Starting with Vinh Trang Pagoda, Thomas shared legends and historical details in a way that made the site come to life. Then came the boat journey—what a joy to cruise down the Mekong River with its calm waters and vivid scenery. Thomas pointed out hidden gems as we passed floating homes and the mythical island formations.
When we reached the coconut candy workshop in Tan Thach village, Thomas explained every step with patience and enthusiasm. The best part? Tasting the candy warm, fresh off the press! It felt like we were seeing a side of Vietnam few tourists get to witness.
The horse cart ride through the countryside was a lovely throwback to another time, and the traditional music performance gave me goosebumps—it was raw, emotional, and hauntingly beautiful. But what touched me most was the sampan ride through the narrow canal. The stillness, the arching coconut palms, the quiet lives along the water… it was deeply moving.
Lunch with crispy elephant ear fish was delicious and the perfect end to a perfect day. Thank you, Thomas, for your heart, stories, and humor—you made this more than just a tour. You made it an experience I’ll never forget.
This day tour from Can Tho to My Tho was an absolute gem. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, from the comfortable morning drive to the smooth boat embarkation. But what truly elevated the experience was our wonderful guide, Duy. His warm energy, deep knowledge, and passion for the Mekong region made every moment come alive.
Our stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda was serene and enlightening. Duy explained the temple’s history with such reverence—it helped me appreciate it not just as a beautiful structure, but as a symbol of cultural pride and resilience. Cruising along the Mekong River, seeing the floating homes and fish farms, felt like watching a living, breathing story of Vietnam.
The Tan Thach village visit was my favorite. Learning how coconut products are made (especially the candy!) was fascinating. Duy made it fun and interactive for everyone, especially the children in our group, who were delighted by the hands-on feel of the workshop.
From sipping honey tea while listening to traditional Vietnamese music, to gliding silently through a palm-lined canal on a hand-rowed sampan—it was all so peaceful and grounding. And the elephant ear fish lunch? A delicious surprise!
I left with unforgettable memories and a newfound admiration for this region. Duy, thank you for sharing your heart and culture with us!
