Pick-up11:00 AM, the driver & tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in My Tho City and transfer to My Tho boat station for embarking the boat.

Cruising on the mighty Mekong RiverBoarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).

Coco candy producing processContinuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.

Horse cartTake a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).

Hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canalAfterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.

End the tourDisembark at My Tho boat station where the car driver waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to your hotel in My Tho city. End the tour around 2:30 PM.

Chris was super knowledgeable and very smooth in how he handled the whole flow of the tour. The boat cruise on the Mekong was breezy and relaxing, and I liked how we got to observe not just touristy things, but actual floating fish farms. At the coconut village, we learned about how coconut is used for candy, oil, even mats — it was more interesting than I expected. The horse cart was fun, and the traditional music was beautiful — simple but soulful. Ending the tour with a proper lunch of elephant ear fish was the cherry on top. Great experience for a half day!
Ce tour était parfaitement rythmé, ni trop court ni trop intense. Duy nous a accueillis chaleureusement et a partagé plein d’histoires sur la région. J’ai adoré découvrir les multiples usages de la noix de coco, et les démonstrations dans le petit atelier étaient à la fois pédagogiques et ludiques. Le trajet en charrette était amusant, surtout dans ce décor rural paisible. La balade en barque dans les canaux m’a vraiment touchée — un moment de calme absolu. Et le déjeuner ! Quelle belle surprise : le poisson aux grandes oreilles croustillant, accompagné de riz et légumes frais. Simple mais délicieux. À recommander sans hésiter.
