Pick-up11:00 AM, the driver & tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in My Tho City and transfer to My Tho boat station for embarking the boat.

Cruising on the mighty Mekong RiverBoarding the motorboat at a pier and cruising on the mighty Mekong River. Here, overlooking floating houses where fishes are farmed beneath the house around 4 islands of the Dragon island, Thoi Son island (Unicorn island), Phoenix island, Turtle islet (viewing from the motorboat).

Coco candy producing processContinuing the journey on the river until reaching the local hidden Tan Thach village (which is less touristy than Thoi Son island tourism a lot), you will get to know many things about coconut uses (coconut candy, wine, oil, mat, coco shell), the tour guide will explain about coco candy producing process at the local coconut workshop as well – very kid-friendly. Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of local people.

Horse cartTake a short walk to explore the village. Enjoy more Mekong countryside with the horse cart as a Landlord in the old days. Arrive another village - a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) can be heard and seasonal tropical fruits and honey tea can be tasted (included).

Hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canalAfterward, being on a hand-rowing sampan (smalboat) in a small canal and slowly cruising through a small creek with beautiful overhanging coconut trees. Lives from both sides of the creek can be observed.

End the tourDisembark at My Tho boat station where the car driver waits for you there and picks you up and transfers straight to your hotel in My Tho city. End the tour around 2:30 PM.

What an amazing way to spend a day. Danh’s storytelling and gentle spirit made everything come alive. I especially appreciated how quiet and authentic the experience felt — away from the crowds, immersed in local life. Watching the coconut candy being made by hand was fascinating. Riding a horse cart through a peaceful village and listening to traditional music under the trees felt deeply grounding. And the sampan ride? It moved me to tears. I’ve never experienced such quiet beauty. The lunch was fresh, tasty, and shared with great people. I’ll treasure this memory always.
This tour was a true highlight of my journey through Vietnam. Lam was a fantastic guide, mixing humor, stories, and deep knowledge.
