Insightful, Peaceful, and Perfectly Guided by Duy

I loved every minute of this morning. From the moment Duy picked us up in the Xe Loi, I could tell we were in good hands. His gentle, engaging manner made everything feel relaxed but deeply meaningful. Cruising along the Bassac River, he told us about the life source of the Mekong and how Chau Doc is shaped by it. Visiting a floating home was surreal — so modest but full of life. When they fed the fish, the surface boiled with movement! Duy explained how these fish farms support entire families, and suddenly, it wasn’t just a novelty — it was real. The Cham village was peaceful and proud. The mosque stood with quiet dignity, and the women weaving on traditional looms were simply inspiring. Duy translated their thoughts, adding heart to everything we saw. The small canal ride in the sampan was my favorite part — cool shade, birds overhead, life unfolding along the water. We were back at the hotel by 10 AM, but my mind was still there, drifting on that river.

A Morning Full of Culture, Color, and Connection

We met Minh bright and early and hopped into a charming Xe Loi for a short ride to the river. Minh’s knowledge of Chau Doc’s history gave us so much context right away. The floating fishing village blew my mind — entire families living above vast nets full of fish! When the owner tossed food into the trap, hundreds of fish leaped up in unison. It was chaotic and beautiful. Minh explained how this has been the livelihood of the community for decades. At the Cham village, we walked slowly through peaceful lanes, met weavers in action, and visited the mosque — one of the most serene places I’ve seen in Vietnam. The textile work was stunning, and Minh helped translate their stories, which made it personal. Cruising the canal on the sampan, with stilt houses rising above the water and laundry flapping in the breeze, gave me a sense of tranquility I’ll never forget. This wasn’t just a tour — it was a privilege.
