The most famous floating fishing villages in Mekong river deltaExplore one of the most famous floating fishing villages in Mekong river delta with hundreds of floating houses on the Bassac river. You will enter one of the floating houses through a porch. The locals will welcome you with the hospitality. They will open a flap in the ground and throw fish food from the bag standing next to it into the water under the house. Immediately a chaotic hustle and bustle start when the fish jump after the food. All the houses have nets underneath to breed fish, most of it Pangasius and Tilapia.

Our journey to Chau Doc was a deep dive into Vietnam’s cultural diversity. Danh’s insightful commentary enriched our visit to the Cham minority village, where we learned about traditional weaving techniques and the community’s way of life. The sampan ride through the Vinh Te canal offered a peaceful respite, with stilt houses lining the water’s edge. The floating fishing village was a fascinating glimpse into sustainable aquaculture practices. This tour provided a profound understanding of the region’s cultural and ecological richness.
From the moment we boarded the Xe Loi in Ben Tre, I knew this would be a day to remember. Lam’s engaging storytelling brought each stop to life, from the coconut workshop to the mat weaving village. The highlight was the sampan ride through the tranquil water coconut canals, where we witnessed daily life unfold along the banks. The home-cooked lunch in the garden was a feast for the senses, featuring fresh, local ingredients. This tour offers an authentic and enriching experience of the Mekong Delta.
