I almost cancelled because of the early pickup, but I’m so glad I didn’t. We left Saigon at 3:30AM, arrived in Can Tho before sunrise, and were greeted by Chris, our passionate and insightful guide.
Floating through Cai Rang was something else — not loud or showy, just raw, honest life. A woman cut us pineapple and smiled like she’s known us forever.
The noodle house was another world. I’d never seen noodles made like that before. The family was so warm. And that noodle cracker — crispy heaven.
The sampan ride? Pure peace. Palm fronds brushing your shoulders, kids waving, and you just glide. By the time we had our riverside lunch, I didn’t want the day to end.
Minh was one of the kindest, most attentive guides I’ve had in all my travels. We met him just before sunrise in Can Tho, and he made sure everything went smoothly.
The floating market is something every traveler should see — not because it’s flashy, but because it’s so real. We floated, we ate pineapple, we learned.
The rice noodle family was generous and welcoming. Their technique is so refined. The fruit orchard was full of color and scent — I tried fruits I didn’t even know existed.
But that moment on the sampan, passing ducks and children waving — that’s the image I’ll carry home with me. Vietnam has soul.
