At first, I hesitated — 3:30 AM departure from HCMC sounded brutal. But the stillness of the Mekong in the morning, the life of the floating market, and the peaceful canal ride completely changed my mind.
Thomas was knowledgeable and funny, making us feel like friends. He explained every detail with heart — from the way vendors use long poles to display what they sell, to the way river life has changed over time.
The noodle house was charming. I loved seeing the process from rice flour to the final product. The “pizza” they gave us was so crispy and flavorful.
Floating through the small canals later, we passed by orchards and kids waving from the banks. The quiet, the green, the rhythm of the paddle — it stays with you.
