Our lunch under a shady garden, savoring elephant ear fish, felt like eating in a local family’s home.

   Day two started with an unforgettable early wake-up. We reached Cai Rang floating market just as the first light painted the sky. Floating vendors shouting prices, boats loaded with fresh fruit, and the aroma of noodle soup on the river created a scene I won’t forget. Hannah explained the history and the delicate balance keeping this market alive. Later, the rice noodle family factory gave us a hands-on view of authentic Vietnamese food culture — the colorful noodles and the rice noodle pizza were delicious surprises. The small, serene canals offered a romantic escape, especially as we drifted silently in a sampan, watching daily life unfold. Biking through villages on day two added a lively contrast, with locals waving and inviting us into their world. The cacao farm was a lovely, unexpected delight — sipping cacao milk made from local beans, learning the history, and tasting homemade chocolate products was a treat for all senses.

   Day three was a nature lover’s paradise. Tra Su Melaleuca Forest was otherworldly, with emerald duckweed covering vast waters and thousands of birds swirling overhead. The slow hand-rowed sampan ride deep into the forest felt like a meditation. Climbing the observation tower to see the endless green expanse was breathtaking. The bamboo bridge walk was exhilarating, connecting us more deeply to the environment. On the way back, stopping at vibrant rice fields and the ancient Khmer pagoda brought history and spirituality to the trip’s close. This was more than a tour — it was a journey into the heart and soul of the Mekong Delta.

   This 3-day tour from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, Ben Tre, and Tra Su was one of the most meaningful travel experiences I’ve had in Southeast Asia. The balance between culture, nature, and local life was just right, and everything was seamlessly organized.

   On Day 1, we left HCMC with our guide Minh, who was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. The Ben Tre tour was full of little surprises—coconut candy workshops, brick kilns, peaceful sampan rides through lush canals, and an authentic countryside lunch featuring elephant ear fish. I particularly loved the ride on the Xe Loi, bouncing gently through the villages. We ended the day with a smooth transfer to Can Tho.

   Day 2 began bright and early with a sampan ride to the Cai Rang floating market, which was unlike anything I’ve seen before. Minh explained the cultural and economic history behind the market and floating life in the Delta. We tried delicious noodle soup served directly on a boat! The visits to the noodle factory, cacao farm, and the tranquil canals made the morning fly by. The optional bike ride was a nice touch and gave us a closer connection to the people and places we passed.

   Day 3 took us to the serene Tra Su forest—truly a highlight. The hand-rowed sampan drifting through the green duckweed was a dream. We climbed the observation tower for panoramic views and strolled the bamboo bridge in near silence, broken only by birdsong. Along the way back, we made stops at golden rice fields, sugar palm plantations (we got to taste the juice!), and a stunning ancient Khmer pagoda—an unexpected cultural gem.

   Every aspect of this tour felt personalized and thoughtful, and Minh was absolutely outstanding throughout—engaging, patient, and incredibly informed.
