Binh Thuy ancient houseYou will visit Binh Thuy ancient house. The Binh Thuy French-style house, the privately owned house, was built in 1870 by the Duong family and still managed by the eighth generation. The house was famously used in the 1992 movie “L’Amant” (“The Lover”) based on the novel of the same name by French author Marguerite Duras, directed by Jean Jacques Annaud, telling the story of a young Marguerite Duras and her lover Huynh Thuy Le, set during Indochina times.

The organic cacao farmThe tour continues to visit and walk around the organic cacao farm where the guide will tell you interesting stories about local Mekong countryside life, culture, garden and fruits.

What an extraordinary ride! I was honestly expecting a basic countryside trip, but this turned out to be a cultural immersion beyond expectations. Binh Thuy ancient house was like stepping into a colonial dream. I felt like I was on a movie set — and turns out I was! Chris was brilliant in telling us the backstory of the house and its cinematic significance. The cacao farm was unexpectedly fascinating, and the local farmer even gave me a piece of homemade chocolate to try. The highlight for me? The massive ficus tree with its war history — that gave me chills. And then, just when I thought the tour couldn’t get better, we stopped for duck and shrimp pancakes. I’ve never eaten something so crispy and rich in flavor! Beer + hammock = happiness. Thanks, Chris!
Grazie mille Lâm! Questa giornata è stata incredibile. In scooter si vive tutto più da vicino, si sentono gli odori, i suoni della campagna. La casa antica era come un set cinematografico, la fattoria di cacao un piccolo paradiso. Ma il momento che mi ha emozionato di più è stato sotto l’albero dei Viet Cong, mentre Lâm raccontava storie vere. E il pancake? Buonissimo! Gente gentile, cibo buonissimo, atmosfera autentica. Cinque stelle non bastano!
