Minh’s love for food was contagious — he told us about his grandmother’s recipes, about traditional southern spices, and how street food here is passed from generation to generation. The pork rolls were so good I asked for a second round. I loved learning about the starfruit and herbs that went into it — flavors I’ve never tasted before. The soup stop had the most humble setup, just plastic stools and one pot, but it was hands-down the best thing I ate all week. Minh created magic with this tour.
Thomas didn’t just take us to places — he introduced us to people. I loved how casual and natural it all felt. We weren’t just customers; we were guests. The fried prawn cake was amazing, but I really loved the quiet moment in the hidden courtyard where we tried a local rice dish I can’t even pronounce. It wasn’t on any menu, and Thomas said even some locals don’t know about it. The rooftop café felt like the kind of place couples go on anniversaries — candlelight, jazz, and the whole city sparkling below. A perfect end to a deeply special evening.
