This tour gave us so much more than just food—it was a deep dive into the local life of Can Tho that I’ll never forget. Our guide, Thanh, was warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, it felt more like meeting a local friend than joining a tour.
We started at a local park where families were chatting, kids were playing, and people were exercising—it immediately set a genuine tone for the evening. Then came the food, and wow! The original fried prawn cake was crispy and flavorful, and it was fascinating to watch it made from scratch right in front of us.
The next stop was for Khmer soup, which I had never tried before—rich, comforting, and totally unique. Then we had the famous grilled pork salad rolls, and I loved learning how to roll them the Vietnamese way, complete with lemongrass, star fruit, and a delicious dipping sauce.
What made this tour truly special was the “secret dish”—served at a charming hidden spot that you’d never find on your own. Thanh gave us the story behind every dish and answered all our curious questions with passion.
We ended with drinks at a beautiful rooftop café, overlooking the sparkling lights of the Mekong and the city. A peaceful, picture-perfect finish to a night full of flavors and discoveries.
Don’t hesitate—book this tour on your first night in Can Tho. It’ll set the tone for the rest of your trip!
If you’re looking for an authentic way to explore Can Tho by night, this “Taste of Can Tho” walking food tour is the perfect choice! Our guide, Hien, picked us up right on time and gave us a quick but informative introduction to the city’s food culture and local lifestyle before we hit the streets.
We started with a walk through a lively local park, where people were exercising, playing shuttlecock, and hanging out after work. It felt like we were being introduced to a different side of Vietnam—one not seen from a tour bus.
The food journey was amazing! The fried prawn cake was so crispy and cooked fresh right in front of us—nothing like we’d ever tried before. Then we were led to a hidden gem serving the most comforting Khmer-style soup. Our guide explained the roots of Khmer culture in the region, which added so much depth to the dish.
Next, we tried grilled pork patty salad rolls, which came with all kinds of herbs and dipping sauces that Hien explained in great detail. By the time we reached the secret dish in a hidden local gem, we were full—but couldn’t stop eating. Every stop was thoughtfully chosen and incredibly delicious.
The evening ended perfectly with a drink at a rooftop café overlooking the Can Tho skyline and river. What a beautiful and peaceful way to wrap up an evening filled with flavor and stories.
Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to experience Can Tho like a local—on foot, with full stomachs and big smiles.
