I’m still processing how many beautiful things we saw in just one morning. The driver picked us up early from our homestay in Sa Dec, and we reached Can Tho just before sunrise. The air was cool, the river misty — perfect.
Thomas welcomed us at the pier and took us straight to Cai Rang floating market. I loved how he encouraged us to interact — we got coffee from a boat vendor and even a bowl of noodles! He shared personal insights into the daily life of vendors, making it all so human and real.
The small canals afterward were peaceful, and the tropical fruit garden was like walking through a dream — jackfruit, sapodilla, dragonfruit, guava… and Thomas knew them all.
The noodle factory was intimate — just a few people working calmly, the rice paper drying outside. We got to taste hot fried noodles right there. It was like a crunchy crepe, and I loved it.
Last stop: cacao farm. I never imagined I’d be sipping cacao milk in the Mekong Delta, but here we are. Everything was homegrown, delicious, and offered with pride. We even met the owner, who shared his story of farming during and after the war.
A light lunch ended the tour perfectly. I left with new knowledge, a happy belly, and a heart full of appreciation.
This tour truly touched my heart. I was picked up at 4 AM from Sa Dec, a bit unsure about such an early start — but it turned out to be the best decision I made during my Mekong trip.
Lâm was waiting for us at the dock in Can Tho with warm energy and endless knowledge. The floating market was alive with colors, sounds, and smells. I loved how Lâm explained not just what we were seeing, but also why it matters to the local people.
In the fruit garden, I tasted sapodilla for the first time, and we strolled among trees heavy with tropical goodness. So peaceful.
The noodle house visit was humbling. The family was so welcoming, and Lâm translated every detail about the process. Watching those noodles dry in the sun was mesmerizing.
I wasn’t expecting a cacao farm in Vietnam — what a lovely surprise! We saw the pods, learned about the fermenting and drying, and tried everything from milk to wine. It felt very special, almost like a secret place.
Lunch was delicious and quiet, surrounded by greenery. I left with a full stomach and a very full heart.
