In Can Tho begrüßte uns Minh sehr herzlich.

    River life and chocolate dreams

Woke up super early in Sa Dec thinking, “This better be worth it,” and it so was. Got to Can Tho right at sunrise and was greeted by Chris, who was an absolute legend throughout the day.

The floating market was surreal—boats full of produce, steaming breakfast being made right on the water, and so much life happening before 6 AM. Chris explained it all with enthusiasm and stories from his childhood near the Mekong.

After that, we cruised to a tropical orchard where we picked fresh fruits and just wandered under the canopy. It felt like something out of a movie.

At the noodle factory, the family showed us how the noodles were made, dyed with natural colors from veggies and flowers. The noodle pizza snack was hot, crispy, and delicious.

Cacao farm? LOVED it. Chris gave us a fun chocolate mini-course—tasting raw beans, seeing chocolate made, and trying cacao wine (yep, it’s a thing and it’s awesome).

Lunch was exactly what I needed after all that: tasty, filling, and local. This tour made me fall in love with the Mekong.
