This tour was one of the highlights of my Vietnam trip. I stayed in Sa Dec and got picked up very early at 4:00 AM. The drive to Can Tho was smooth, and by 5:30 AM I met Thomas at the boat pier. He was super friendly and energetic even at that hour!
The floating market was something I’d always wanted to see—and it did not disappoint. Thomas explained how trade works on the river, the meaning behind the bamboo poles with produce hanging from them, and more.
Eating fresh pineapple while surrounded by boats and golden morning light—priceless.
The tropical fruit garden was a peaceful contrast to the market. Then we visited a traditional noodle house where I got to try making a rice noodle sheet myself! The family was lovely, and the noodle pizza snack was tasty.
The cacao farm was a sweet finish—literally. Thomas told us the backstory of the owner, and we tasted cacao in all forms: beans, milk, wine. I had no idea Vietnam had cacao farms!
Delicious lunch included, and the driver took me back to Sa Dec comfortably. Would 100% recommend!
Waking up at 3:30 AM didn’t sound appealing at first, but wow—what a reward! The driver picked me up from my hotel in Sa Dec on time, and by 5:30 AM I was boarding a beautiful wooden sampan in Can Tho with Hannah smiling and ready.
Watching the sunrise while cruising into the Cai Rang floating market was magical. Boats everywhere, people selling pineapples, noodles, coffee… and Hannah explaining how this market has evolved over time. We had fresh pineapple straight from a boat vendor—it tasted like sunshine.
The tropical fruit garden was gorgeous and peaceful, and I tried star apple for the first time—delicious! At the noodle factory, the family was so kind and funny, and the “noodle pizza” was surprisingly good!
We ended at a cacao farm run by a local family. Hannah told us all about Mr. Cacao and how he makes chocolate and even cosmetics from cacao. I loved the cacao milk and bought a small bottle of cacao wine to take home.
The lunch was fresh and full of local flavors. This tour was way more than I expected—peaceful, insightful, and super well-organized. Thank you, Hannah!
