When people ask me what to see in Mekong today. I tell them view our MekongDelta365.
Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.
This was easily the most memorable half-day of our time in the Mekong Delta. The 5 AM start sounded painful at first, but it made complete sense once we arrived at the pier and saw the river slowly waking up. Our guide Thomas explained the floating market in a way that felt honest, not rehearsed — especially the part about how Cai Rang is changing and slowly disappearing.
Breakfast on the boat was a real highlight. Sitting on a small sampan, eating hot noodle soup while other boats moved around us with fruits, coffee, and local goods, felt like being inside the daily rhythm of Can Tho instead of just watching it from outside. The Vietnamese coffee was strong and perfect, and we also tried fresh tropical fruits that tasted much better than anything from a supermarket.
What made the tour special was the cycling after the market. The 16 km ride was very manageable, even for casual cyclists like us. We passed quiet villages, canals, small schools, local markets, and wooden bridges. There were almost no other tourists, which made the experience feel calm and genuine. Crossing the river by local ferry was another small but beautiful moment.
I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants more than a quick photo stop at the floating market. It gives you the river, the countryside, the food, and the real local atmosphere in one morning.
