Pick-upThe car driver (no tour guide) will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Cai Be boat station (about 10:00 AM) where your tour guide will greet and welcome you for embarking the boat.

Coconut cand & pop riceArrive in Cai Be, start the Mekong boat trip from there. Discover the village, house on stilts. Then, keep cruising and visiting a local workshop, there are things to see such as coconut candy producing process (very kid-friendly), pop rice, rice wine, snake wine...Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of the local Mekong people.

Cai Be Floating Market (about 10 boats after Covid)The boat continues on reaching the island for enjoying Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as - Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Your boat trip also passes by Cai Be floating market but it has already disappeared after Covid (now Cai Be floating market has about 10 boats only, it will be great to see the beautiful Can Tho floating market on the next day).

The rowing sampan and small canalsLeave the big boat behind for a while. Let’s experience the rowing sampan (with the locals) and a small canal on Tan Phong Islet. A must photo of Mekong featured with the sampan.

Lunch in the gardenHome-cooked lunch is served and included in the garden on the islet (set Menu included elephant ear fish).

Vinh Long pottery kilnsAfter lunch, take a boat ride along the mighty Mekong river to Vinh Long and stop for a visit at the amazing traditional brick kiln and pottery.

End the boat tour in Vinh Long & take the car back to hotel in HCMCDisembark in Vinh Long where your car driver (no tour guide) waits for you there and picks you up for Ho Chi Minh city. End the tour in HCMC around 05-06:00 PM. Let us know in advance, we offer free transfer from Vinh Long to Can Tho city center if you book Can Tho floating market tour on the next day with us.

We took this tour with our two kids (ages 7 and 10), and it was one of the best days of our Vietnam trip.
Hannah was amazing with the kids—kind, patient, and knew how to keep them engaged.
The coconut candy workshop was the highlight for them—they got to try samples, see machines, and even hold a piece of sugarcane.
The sampan ride was short enough not to lose their attention but long enough for great photos.
Lunch was super family-friendly. They even had some options for picky eaters.
I didn’t expect the brick kiln to be interesting for children, but it was! Giant structures, lots of questions!
No stress, no rushing. Just a lovely, gentle day out with learning woven into the fun.

Een erg leuke en goed georganiseerde dag.
Vanuit Ho Chi Minh City naar Cai Be was comfortabel, en in de haven ontmoetten we Lâm, onze gids. Hij sprak uitstekend Engels en wist veel over de regio.
De werkplaats met kokosnootsnoep, gepofte rijst en slangewijn was fascinerend en leuk om te zien.
De drijvende markt stelde niet veel meer voor, maar Lâm legde goed uit waarom en hoe het vroeger was.
De sampan op de kleine kanalen was prachtig – rust en natuur.
Lunch was een hoogtepunt! Alles was vers en heerlijk.
Daarna nog naar de traditionele bakstenen ovens in Vinh Long. Bijzonder om zoiets nog in werking te zien.
Een mooie mix van cultuur, natuur en gastronomie. Bedankt Lâm!
