A Day Well Spent in the Mekong

I loved this tour! From the moment I stepped on the boat at Cai Be, it felt like entering a slower, more peaceful world. David was fantastic — bilingual (French-English), well-prepared, and clearly loved the Mekong region.

The coconut candy workshop was surprisingly fun, especially watching how they make the pop rice. The free samples were delicious. I also enjoyed seeing the floating market, even if it was small — David gave great historical context and helped us imagine how busy it used to be.

The lunch with elephant ear fish was just perfect, and the bamboo-shaded sampan ride felt like something out of a postcard. By the time we reached Saigon in the late afternoon, I was tired — but in the best possible way. Merci, David!

    Mekong Moments with Minh

Our guide Minh made this tour feel more like a journey with a friend than a formal excursion. She explained everything clearly, gave us cultural context, and always made sure we were comfortable.

The brick kilns in Vinh Long were a highlight I hadn’t expected — I loved seeing the traditional methods in action. Then, cruising to the island for lunch was smooth and relaxing. We even got a little local music show before boarding the sampan.

The sampan ride through narrow green canals was absolutely beautiful. Minh told us about the different plants along the way and even pointed out a sleeping water monitor! Afterward, we sampled local sweets and took some home as souvenirs.

I would absolutely recommend this tour — and Minh — to anyone curious about real Mekong life.
