Pick-upThe car driver (no tour guide) will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Cai Be boat station (about 10:00 AM) where your tour guide will greet and welcome you for embarking the boat.

Coconut cand & pop riceArrive in Cai Be, start the Mekong boat trip from there. Discover the village, house on stilts. Then, keep cruising and visiting a local workshop, there are things to see such as coconut candy producing process (very kid-friendly), pop rice, rice wine, snake wine...Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of the local Mekong people.

Cai Be Floating Market (about 10 boats after Covid)The boat continues on reaching the island for enjoying Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as - Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Your boat trip also passes by Cai Be floating market but it has already disappeared after Covid (now Cai Be floating market has about 10 boats only, it will be great to see the beautiful Can Tho floating market on the next day).

The rowing sampan and small canalsLeave the big boat behind for a while. Let’s experience the rowing sampan (with the locals) and a small canal on Tan Phong Islet. A must photo of Mekong featured with the sampan.

Tours in group
We traveled with our two kids (ages 7 and 10), and this tour was perfect for them! Hannah was very patient, engaging, and always had something to show or explain in a kid-friendly way. The coconut candy demo and pop rice were a big hit with the kids.
We loved the sampan ride — it was short and slow, just right for children. Lunch in the garden was peaceful, and they even provided smaller portions for the kids. I was worried the brick kilns might be too much for them, but they were fascinated! The car ride from Vinh Long to Can Tho was smooth, and everyone slept happily after such a full day. Big thank you to Hannah!
Der Tag war voller kleiner, authentischer Erlebnisse. David war ein ausgezeichneter Guide – freundlich, sehr informativ und nicht aufdringlich. Vom Hotel in Saigon ging es erst mit dem Fahrer nach Cai Be, und dort haben wir David am Boot getroffen.
Besonders schön fand ich den Besuch bei der Kokosnuss-Bonbon-Herstellung – man konnte alles sehen, probieren und sogar mitmachen. Das Rudern mit dem Sampan durch die kleinen Kanäle war magisch. Beim Mittagessen im Garten gab es viele lokale Spezialitäten, liebevoll zubereitet. Die Ziegelbrennerei am Ende war ein spannender Kontrast. Eine wunderschöne Tour!
