Itinerary
  • Pick-up
    The car driver (no tour guide) will pick you up from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Cai Be boat station (about 10:00 AM) where your tour guide will greet and welcome you for embarking the boat.
  • Coconut cand & pop rice
    Arrive in Cai Be, start the Mekong boat trip from there. Discover the village, house on stilts. Then, keep cruising and visiting a local workshop, there are things to see such as coconut candy producing process (very kid-friendly), pop rice, rice wine, snake wine...Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of the local Mekong people.
  • Cai Be Floating Market (about 10 boats after Covid)
    The boat continues on reaching the island for enjoying Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as - Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Your boat trip also passes by Cai Be floating market but it has already disappeared after Covid (now Cai Be floating market has about 10 boats only, it will be great to see the beautiful Can Tho floating market on the next day).
  • The rowing sampan and small canals
    Leave the big boat behind for a while. Let’s experience the rowing sampan (with the locals) and a small canal on Tan Phong Islet. A must photo of Mekong featured with the sampan.
  • Lunch in the garden
    Home-cooked lunch is served and included in the garden on the islet (set Menu included elephant ear fish).
  • Vinh Long pottery kilns
    After lunch, take a boat ride along the mighty Mekong river to Vinh Long and stop for a visit at the amazing traditional brick kiln and pottery.
  • End the boat tour in Vinh Long & take the car to hotel in Can Tho City
    Disembark in Vinh Long where your car driver (no tour guide) waits for you there and picks you up for Can Tho city with another hour drive. End the tour in Can Tho around 04:00 PM.

    Touched by the Mekong's calm

    I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this day became one of my most peaceful travel experiences. Danh is a fantastic guide, thoughtful and calm, with a gentle way of sharing stories about the Mekong Delta. The coconut workshop felt very local and unpolished—in a good way. I loved sampling all the strange snacks and seeing how everything is made.

    The small sampan ride was incredibly serene, surrounded by greenery and quiet waters. Our lunch stop on the island was shaded, relaxing, and delicious. The elephant ear fish looked intimidating but tasted wonderful! Visiting the brick kilns in Vinh Long rounded the day off with something more industrial and visually stunning. Highly recommended.

    Une belle journée hors des sentiers battus

    Cette journée était parfaite pour découvrir le vrai Vietnam, loin des circuits trop touristiques. Le transfert de Saigon jusqu’à Cai Be s’est bien passé, puis on a embarqué avec Duy, notre guide exceptionnel, souriant et très cultivé. Le petit atelier de bonbons à la noix de coco et de riz soufflé a beaucoup plu à tout le groupe.

    J’ai adoré la balade en sampan à travers les petits canaux – un moment de paix totale. Le repas dans le jardin, avec le fameux poisson « oreille d’éléphant », était délicieux. Et la fin à Vinh Long, avec les fours à briques traditionnels, était inattendue mais fascinante. Merci Duy pour cette magnifique journée!
