Serene overnight, vibrant day – the perfect order

Our experience on this reversed itinerary was seamless. The first afternoon on An Binh islet was restful and quiet – we biked, enjoyed the garden, and had dinner with our hosts. Then, on the second day, we met guide Hannah, who brought energy and warmth to the tour.

Hannah explained the pottery-making process in Vinh Long with clarity and even let us try turning a few bricks! Later, we visited small workshops for coconut candy and pop rice – those pop sounds were fun! The canals were incredibly scenic.

Lunch in Cai Be was fresh and relaxing. We felt like we began with a deep breath and finished with a smile. Highly recommend starting from Vinh Long if you want to ease into the experience.

Spending a night in the real Mekong – then floating into culture

Our guide Lâm suggested we start from Vinh Long instead of Cai Be, and it was absolutely the right choice. The homestay on An Binh islet gave us a quiet start – no schedule, no pressure. We helped prep vegetables, folded dumplings, and enjoyed a dinner that felt like family.

In the morning, the boat driver picked us up and we traveled toward Cai Be. Along the way, we visited old brick kilns, watched how coconut candy and rice wine are made, and passed under lovely green canopies in the narrow canals.

By the time we had lunch on the islet in Cai Be, we felt like the trip had unfolded naturally, not like a tour at all. Ending in Cai Be gave us time to continue our journey without backtracking. Highly recommend this direction – and thanks Lâm for making it so personal!
