Day 1: Cai Be River Tour & Check in the islet homestay (Lunch, Dinner)

Meeting point with the tour guideThe meeting point is at the Cai Be boat station (near Cai Be floating market). Our tour guide will welcome and pick you up from there and walk to the boat station for the Cai Be Vinh Long boat excursion.

Coconut cand & pop riceArrive in Cai Be, start the Mekong boat trip from there. Discover the village, house on stilts. Then, keep cruising and visiting a local workshop, there are things to see such as coconut candy producing process (very kid-friendly), pop rice, rice wine, snake wine...Enjoying free samples of local specialties and discovering daily activities of the local Mekong people.

Cai Be Floating Market (about 10 boats after Covid)The boat continues on reaching the island for enjoying Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as - Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Your boat trip also passes by Cai Be floating market but it has already disappeared after Covid (now Cai Be floating market has about 10 boats only, it will be great to see the beautiful Can Tho floating market on the next day).

The rowing sampan and small canalsLeave the big boat behind for a while. Let’s experience the rowing sampan (with the locals) and a small canal on Tan Phong Islet. A must photo of Mekong featured with the sampan.

Lunch in the gardenHome-cooked lunch is served and included in the garden on the islet (set Menu included elephant ear fish).

Vinh Long pottery kilnsAfter lunch, take a boat ride along the mighty Mekong river to Vinh Long and stop for a visit at the amazing traditional brick kiln and pottery.

Check in the homestayAfter the Vinh Long kiln, the boat reach to the mainland and drop off the guests who go to Can Tho or back to Saigon. The rest will get to An Binh islet for check in the homestay around 2:30 PM.

We loved beginning our journey with a peaceful night on An Binh islet. The homestay was simple but charming, and our hosts welcomed us with open arms. Cooking dinner together was such a wholesome activity – we even learned how to make local-style sweet and sour fish soup!
In the morning, after breakfast, our boat driver brought us down the river to meet guide Danh. He welcomed us warmly and took us to explore Vinh Long’s brick kilns, then through a series of stops including the coconut candy workshop and the rice wine corner (yes, we tried the snake wine). The boat ride through the small canals was incredibly peaceful.
The Đàn Ca Tài Tử performance before lunch was a beautiful surprise – we had never heard that style of music before. The tour ended in Cai Be, and we felt deeply connected to the place. Starting from the islet gave us the calm, and ending in Cai Be added a joyful rhythm. Perfect balance!
このツアーは本当に素晴らしかったです。ガイドのDavidさんはとても親切で、分かりやすい英語で丁寧に案内してくれました。カイベーの小さな工房やサンパンの静かな時間が特に印象的でした。
ホームステイ先では地元の方と一緒に夕食を作り、一緒に食卓を囲むことで、その土地の文化を体感できました。夜はとても静かで、川の流れの音が心地よく、深く眠ることができました。
朝食後、ヴィンロンのホテルまで送っていただき、あっという間の2日間でした。観光地では味わえない、温かい出会いがある旅です。
