Our Mekong Delta tour from Can Tho was a delightful experience from start to finish. We were picked up promptly by the driver and met our fantastic guide, Hieu, at Cai Be boat station. Hieu’s enthusiasm and deep knowledge brought the local traditions to life, especially during the visit to the coconut candy and pop rice workshop. Sampling the homemade treats was a highlight for everyone in our group.
Even though the Cai Be floating market is smaller now, Hieu’s storytelling and explanation of the folk music performance made the visit very special. The sampan ride through the narrow canals on Tan Phong Islet was serene and offered beautiful photo moments—definitely a memorable part of the trip.
Lunch in the garden was delicious and authentic, with the elephant ear fish being a standout dish. We also loved visiting the pottery kilns in Vinh Long; seeing the craftsmen at work was fascinating.
Hieu was attentive, friendly, and made sure the day flowed smoothly. Ending the tour back in Can Tho was very convenient. This tour is a wonderful way to discover the Mekong Delta’s culture and natural beauty.
I’m not usually one for organized tours, but this one felt different—more like a slow, personal exploration of a region most travelers only skim. A huge part of that feeling came from our amazing guide, Duy, who brought the day to life with sincerity and great local insight.
We met Duy in Cai Be, and from the moment we stepped on the boat, he made us feel welcome. His pace was relaxed but attentive—he answered every question with a smile and always gave just the right amount of detail.
At the village workshop, we watched pop rice explode in a giant pan, tried freshly made coconut candy, and even braved a sip of snake wine! Duy made everything approachable and light-hearted, especially for those a bit hesitant (like me!). He also shared touching stories about how local families have adapted their trades post-pandemic.
The floating market was small but still charming. Duy didn’t pretend it was grand—it was better than that. He helped us understand its significance, even as it evolves into something quieter. Then came my favorite part: the rowing boat on Tan Phong Islet. It was peaceful and scenic, but also felt authentic—locals rowing us through their world.
Lunch in the shaded garden was so peaceful, with a full set menu that felt hearty and home-cooked. The elephant ear fish was beautifully presented, and Duy helped us understand how every dish connects to the land.
The brick kilns in Vinh Long were a surprise bonus. Towering, warm, and full of character. Duy’s passion for the region shone here—he spoke of them with pride.
I ended the day feeling grateful—not just for the places, but for the people who shared them with us. Thank you, Duy, for making this day so special.
