If you ever want to understand the soul of southern Vietnam, do this tour. Chris guided us with humor and heart — he had everyone laughing within minutes. We visited the brick kiln and learned how each brick takes days to bake. Then came the coconut house, where families turn coconuts into every imaginable thing. I loved watching the mat-weaving — two women chatting while their hands worked like machines. The Xe Lôi ride gave us real countryside life — narrow paths, small bridges, and smiling faces. Lunch was one of the best meals I’ve had in Vietnam. The boat ride at the end was calm, with the water reflecting endless green. It’s not a fancy tour — and that’s exactly why it’s perfect.
I’ve traveled through many countries, but this day in Ben Tre stays with me. Lâm was our guide, gentle and full of love for his homeland. He showed us the brick kiln, where everything was done by hand — simple, honest work. The coconut workshop was like stepping into a sweet-smelling dream. I even tried making a candy roll (and failed miserably). What touched me most was the laughter everywhere. The Xe Lôi ride was bumpy and joyful, with locals shouting “xin chào!” as we passed. Lunch was home-cooked, simple and divine. Later, gliding through the coconut canals, everything slowed down — just water, light, and peace. Ben Tre has this quiet beauty that doesn’t try to impress you; it just is.
