From the moment Lâm greeted us at the hotel, I knew it would be a special day. He had this calm confidence, like someone who truly loves his home. The brick kiln, glowing under the morning sun, showed the artistry hidden in everyday life. Then came the coconut house — laughter, sweet smells, women wrapping candies while chatting in cheerful tones. I even tried hand-weaving a mat and failed miserably, but everyone clapped anyway! The Xe Lôi ride was wild and fun, the wind full of coconut scent. Lunch was absolutely delicious, especially the crispy fish and fresh herbs. But what I’ll remember most is how everyone, even strangers, greeted us with warm eyes. Ben Tre felt autentico, raw and gentle at once — like a small love story with the Mekong.
The day began with a soft morning light over the Mekong — almost cinematic. Jade greeted us with a bright smile and led us through stories of her hometown. Watching people bake bricks in the old kiln felt like traveling back a century. The coconut workshop was vibrant, full of energy and sweet smells. I loved how every stop was real, not arranged — families were just doing their thing, smiling when we passed by. The Xe Lôi ride was a highlight, bouncing through small villages where time seemed to slow down. Lunch was under fruit trees with homemade dishes, each with a story behind it. Later, paddling a small sampan through the coconut canals, I could only hear birds and water. Ben Tre isn’t just beautiful — it’s alive in the most gentle way.
