Chris made this tour feel like we were being shown around by a local friend. I really appreciated how personal and welcoming he was. We started at the brick kiln which was more interesting than I expected – it felt like being in a living museum.
The coconut workshop was the standout – not just watching, but actually understanding how each product is made. Chris made sure to explain everything clearly and answered all our questions with patience.
Lunch was absolutely lovely – we sat in a lush garden, and everything tasted like it had just been picked or caught that morning. The elephant ear fish was so crunchy and delicious. The boat rides were serene, especially the sampan where it was just us, the oarswoman, and the sounds of nature. A wonderful escape from city life.
I did this tour solo and honestly, it was one of the most peaceful and fulfilling days I’ve had in Vietnam. Minh was an excellent guide – calm, informative, and very down-to-earth. We started with a smooth boat ride on the Ben Tre river, which immediately set the tone for a slow-paced, meaningful experience.
The coconut house blew my mind – I never realized how every part of the coconut is used! Minh even showed us the coconut shell ladles used in the countryside. I bought a little bottle of coconut oil for my mom back home.
The mat weaving village felt like stepping back in time. The ladies were kind and let us try a bit of weaving too. Lunch in the garden was peaceful and quiet – we ate slowly, no rush. Then the sampan ride – wow. Narrow canals shaded by coconut leaves, just the sound of water and birds. This is the Vietnam I’ll remember.
