From the moment I stepped into the boat in Ben Tre, I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary tour. Duy welcomed me with a warm smile and from that point on, it felt more like spending a day with a local friend than a typical guide.
I was fascinated by the traditional brick kiln – so earthy and raw. But what really amazed me was how versatile coconuts are. Duy showed us coconut wine, oil, sweets, even spoons made from shells. He explained everything clearly and with pride for his culture.
The Xe Lôi ride was a blast! We passed small homes, rice paddies, and kids waving hello. Lunch was spectacular – I still dream about that elephant ear fish and the fresh herbs. The sampan ride through the quiet, green canals made me forget the rest of the world. Truly a peaceful escape.
From start to finish, this tour was handled with care and attention. Our driver picked us up right on time in Can Tho, and after arriving in Ben Tre, we met Hannah, who was friendly, funny, and full of interesting facts.
We cruised the river, saw how bricks are still made the traditional way, and then visited the coconut workshop – I was amazed at how versatile coconuts are. Hannah explained it all clearly and with enthusiasm.
Mat weaving was a lovely cultural moment. The women let us try a bit and it gave me even more appreciation for the craft. The lunch in the garden was excellent – probably my favorite meal in Vietnam so far! The elephant ear fish was cooked perfectly, and the mango salad was refreshing.
The rowing boat through the quiet canal was so peaceful – birds, breeze, and the soft sound of the oars in water. Back to Can Tho by sunset, feeling inspired and grateful.
