The most famous floating fishing villages in Mekong river deltaExplore one of the most famous floating fishing villages in Mekong river delta with hundreds of floating houses on the Bassac river. You will enter one of the floating houses through a porch. The locals will welcome you with the hospitality. They will open a flap in the ground and throw fish food from the bag standing next to it into the water under the house. Immediately a chaotic hustle and bustle start when the fish jump after the food. All the houses have nets underneath to breed fish, most of it Pangasius and Tilapia.

From start to finish, this tour was about connection — to the land, to the culture, and to the people. Danh, our guide, wasn’t just knowledgeable — he was compassionate and thoughtful. He helped us understand why the floating markets are fading, how families keep ancient crafts alive, and what life truly looks like in the Delta. The cacao farm visit surprised me — I didn’t expect to learn so much about chocolate production and get to taste fresh cacao milk. And the small canal ride? Pure serenity. This wasn’t just a tour — it was a memory I’ll carry for life.
I didn’t expect to be so moved by Chau Doc. Our guide, Thomas, brought history and humanity to life as we visited the floating fishing villages — watching the fish swirl beneath our feet was surreal. The Cham minority village was eye-opening; the women weaving on traditional looms were incredibly skilled, and it was humbling to witness their quiet strength. The mosque stood peacefully in the middle of the village, reminding us of the deep spiritual fabric of this region. This tour felt personal and powerful. Don’t skip it — Chau Doc is a gem.
